To escape the desperation of financial depression and the rise of the Nazi Party, the misfits of Berlin gather to drown their sorrows in song and dance at the Kit Kat Klub. The enigmatic Emcee guides the audience through the tale of the Kit Kat Klub’s star and her lover, an American writer. The reality of the time is demonstrated by the heartbreaking story of the German boardinghouse matron and her affair with a Jewish business owner. Cabaret is an exhilarating journey through pre-World War II Berlin with lavish production numbers like “Willcommen” and hauntingly beautiful ballads like “Tomorrow Belongs to Me.”
